Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and an All Progressive Congress presidential aspirant has said that no Nigerian who love the country and believe in it should vote for someone who does not believe in it.
Asked to come forward to address delegates at the APC special convention on Tuesday, Osinbajo, said it would be illogical for people to say they love Nigeria and yet go ahead to vote for someone who does not share their aspirations.
His speech was believed to be an indirect reference to a newspaper publication where his rival and former governor of Lagos Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had said he did not believe in Nigeria.
“You Cannot love this country and vote for someone you do not believe in When you vote tonight, know that the vote you have voted carries the answer to your prayers for this county,” Osinbajo told delegates.
His statement drew a loud applause.
According to the Vice President, “Nigeria has the talents, resources and the resourcefulness to become one of the world’s leading economies.”
“Everything we can imagine or dream is within our reach. All that is left is for us to make the right decision tonight,” he stated.
The VP added, “to our dear delegates, when you vote tonight, know that your vote carries the answer to your prayers for our country and its future.
“I have been prepared in the most profound ways for the task ahead, and I will be ready from day one,” he said
His speech was halted intermittently by his supporters who cried “It is you we want.”
