Govt, Supporters Allege Sabotage

A section of the recently commissioned Lameco Flyover Bridge has developed major structural defect as it cracked few days after the commissioning of the project by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
As seen in a viral video circulating on social media, the affected section of the bridge bore a deep crack and had caved in following heavy rainfall.
According to reports, security operatives from the Amotekun Corps have since barricaded the damaged lanes, restricting both vehicular and pedestrian movement while authorities assess the extent of the damage.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the flyover and use alternative routes within Osogbo until further notice.
Meanwhile, the incident had since sparked mixed reactions from members of the public with some slamming Adeleke over the defect on the N8.5 billion worth project barely 28 days after been opened for public use.
Others however alleged sabotage of the bridge by suspected thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The suspected thugs were also alleged to have attempted similar sabotage at the Lagere Flyover Bridge in Ile-Ife.
A video recorded during the inspection of the Lagere bridge by government officials showed of some residents of the area who alleged attack on the bridge.
They claimed that the armed thugs opened fire at the bridge in a bid to damage the infrastructure.
‘They opened fire at the bridge yesterday. They wanted to damage what we waited for 12 years to get.’ A resident who spoke in the video alleged.
Also sharing divided opinions were netizens with some accusing the state government of poor execution of the project while others alleged sabotage of the bridge.
