Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bamangar Tukur, has passed away at the age of 90.
Tukur reportedly died on Saturday at his Abuja residence after brief illness.
The news of the ex-PDP National Chairman’s demise was announced in a post shared on X by the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for Kaduna State House of Assembly, Nuhu Sada.
Several other northern political actors taking to their social media handles to mourn Tukur’s demise.
Born on the 15th of September 1935, Tukur served as Minister for Industries in the administration of General Sani Abacha during the 1990s.
He was one of the high-profile civil servants and military officers who acquired large areas of farmland along the various River Basin authorities.
Tukur was president of the Africa Business Roundtable in 2012.
From March 2012 to January 2014, he served as the National Chairman of the PDP.
