Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Gusau.
Danja said troops of Sector 1 OPFY, acting on intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, encountered suspected terrorists moving some of their victims.
He said the terrorists fled after sighting the troops, abandoning the victims.
Three victims, identified as Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna, were subsequently rescued.
The victims were confirmed to have been abducted by terrorists at Gidan Gulbi Village on September 11, 2026.
According to Danja, the rescued victims were debriefed before being reunited with their families, while troops continued operations in the area.
In Katsina State, he said troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call over the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area.
He said the troops quickly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat into nearby bushes and abandon their victims.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and rescued three victims identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
Danja added that the troops also recovered a black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims.
He said the victims were later escorted and released to continue their journey.
Danja said the operations demonstrated the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and restrict their operations within the Joint Operations Area.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
