The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised corps members to board vehicles only at government approved motor parks when travelling.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Fadah, gave the advice on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Batch “B”, Stream I Orientation Course in Abia.
Fadah, represented by the State Coordinator, Mr Julius Ekeh, said the measure would help to save them from falling prey to criminal elements.
He further warned them against embarking on unauthorised journeys and night trips.
According to him, travelling at night does not only increase the risk of accidents, but also makes rescue difficult during accident.
Fadah charged them to avoid using the social media for ethnic jingoism, rumour peddling and promotion of hatred.
He urged them to rather target their online activities at self-improvement and promotion of the unity, peace and prosperity of the country.
The NYSC boss further asmonished them to avail themselves of the ample opportunities offered by the scheme’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) to develop themselves.
“On our part, we are liaising with financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders with a view to providing start-up loans to enable you actualise your business dreams,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 1,356 corps members, comprising 622 males and 734 females, participated in the orientation exercise.
