Six of the seven armed robbers who stormed an Ikorodu hotel in May this year and attacked officials of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board have been arrested .
They were arrested at Abattoir, Agege area of Lagos two months after their crime.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman of the command said on Thursday that one of the robbers was killed in a gun duel with the police in the process of the arrest.
On May 11, the robbers had stormed the Mambillah Hotel, Owutu Ikorodu and robbed guests .
Hundeyin said, “The arrest of the suspects follows painstaking, diligent and discreet investigation ordered and closely monitored by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi.
“The suspects were traced to their hideout at Oju-irin Abattoir, Agege where they were eventually arrested include Lekan Adeoye ‘m’ aged 19, Ojo Akeredolu ‘m’ aged 29, Quadri Balogun ‘m’ aged 23, Ahmed Oke ‘m’ aged 24, John Toluwalashe ‘m’ aged 23 and Azeez Akinpelu ‘m’ aged 20.”
Giving details of what happened to the seventh suspect, Hundeyin said “The seventh suspect, Taye was neutralized during a gun duel with police officers. Items recovered from the suspects are two locally made pistols with 11 live cartridges.”
During the robbery the robbers had killed a security guard at the hotel .
