There are anxieties over the state of health of former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo as he has been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Olunloyo, a mathematician-turned politician was Governor of old Oyo State which comprised the present Osun as well. He served as Governor having defeated late Chief Bola Ige in a controversial electoral victory in the 1983 elections.
His victory was however short-lived as he was booted out along with other civilian administrators by the military junta led by current Nigerian President, then Major General Muhammadu Buhari.
NPO Reports multiple sources said though he had been down with some ailments which necessitated being hospitalised few weeks ago, anxieties grew on Friday when he went into coma.
It was reliably gathered that the Governor of Oyo State Engr Seyi Makinde was already informed of the eventuality but was later informed that the Octogenarian had come up at the ICU section of the hospital.
“I think he went into coma but later came up again,” one of the sources said.
Attempt to speak with Mr. Toye Akinrinola, spokesman of the University College Hospital, Ibadan proved abortive as his phone number was off as at the time of filing this report.
However, another source at the UCH said that Chief Olunloyo was a patient at the facility.
“Yes, he is here with us and I think he is not responding to treatment. All eyes are on him,” the source said
