The negotiator with kidnappers of the Kaduna train attacks victims, Mamu Tukur, has alleged that enough information was provided to the relevant security agencies about last Tuesday attacks on the Kuje Medium Correctional Centre.
He said there is some connection between the attacks on Kuje and the release of seven hostages held since the attack on the Kaduna train about 100 days ago.
Speaking on Arise Television Saturday night after the release of the seven hostages, Tukur said the terrorists had given their conditions for the release of the hostages which he passed to the relevant authorities alleging that the government did not do anything.
He said the terrorists had informed him that if the government was not forthcoming, they would go ahead to secure the release of their commanders.
All 69 Boko Haram commanders escaped from the Kuje prisons.
Tukur said “This is preventable and could have been avoided,” he said he would not rule out connection between the release and the attacks on Kuje prisons.
Tukur said “as it is now, it is the common, helpless people that are suffering.”
He alleged that budgetary allocations to security agencies do not match the performances being put up by them adding that “There is no commensurate results if you compare the budget. Definitely, somebody must be held responsible.”
The negotiation said the release of the last seven victims might be the last negotiation he would be involved in given what he called “the lackluster attitude of the government.
“I have decided not to participate in their negotiation again. I can assure you this will be last effort if they don’t change their attitude.”
