The Christian Association of Nigeria has disowned some clerics who attended Wednesday’s unveiling of the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress Kashim Shettima.
The candidate Bola Tinubu had unveiled Shettima at a brief ceremony held on Wednesday.
The presence of some Christian leaders at the event had attracted attention amidst condemnation of the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC.
CAN had said a Muslim-Muslim ticket at this stage of Nigerian political history would be a recipe for national instability.
NPO had reported the presence of the clerics who were said to be representatives of the Christina community in Borno where comes the running mate, Shettima.
But responding to NPO Reports on Wednesday, Bayo Oladeji, spokesman to the President of CAN , said whoever attended the event did so in his personal capacity and to as members of CAN.
He accused the APC of possible manipulation in the entire issue saying if they could use a 2017 photo to deceive the public, there is nothing else that could not be expected.
Oladeji told NPO Reports, “Let them name them. If they could use 2017 photos they could do anything. Our position on Muslim-Muslim ticket is irreversible. Anybody can claim to anything but one thing is clear, CAN was not part of the unveiling programme of Shettima. “
