The President of Napoli Football Club of Italy, Aurelio De Laurentiis has vowed to never again bring African players to Naples over claims that they are never available during the African Nations Cup (AFCON).
Laurentiis who is known for his vocality currently has two Africans on his payroll- Nigerian Striker Victor Osimhen and Cameroonian Star Zambo Franck-Anguissa.
In a statement bound that is presently causing widespread reactions from African football stakeholders, De Laurentiis revealed that it is unfair for European clubs to keep paying the salaries of these players while they are representing other interests.
The Napoli President was quoted to have said ‘’I told them, lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore! I love them, but either they sign something confirming they will back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations. We are the idiots who pay salaries only to send them all over the world playing for others’’.
In the wake of this development, Nigerian Forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly spoken with his agent and would fancy a move out of Naples following De Laurentiis’ newest outburst.
