A former head of communications of the Catholic mission, Rev Father George Ehusani has explained why Catholic priests are targets of attacks in recent times.
Speaking on an Arise TV interview, Ehusani said Catholic priests “with their people in remote villages” where they engage in various community development activities.
“They don’t have police escorts. They rely on government to protect them. But government has been failing them,” he said
Ehusani said the situation in the country is so bad that it is becoming difficult to give people hopes again.
“I don’t know how to preach hope to the people anymore,” Ehusani said
Giving instances of failure in government, Ehusani said it is strange for universities to be shut down for six months and the Minister in charge stays on in office.
“How can you have such failures in government and no one resigns?
“Can we have a situation universities go on strike for six months and the minister keeps sitting down there.”
He said in the last seven years, there has been a breakdown and failure in the social contract with the government.
“We cannot continue like this any longer,”
The priest said it is coming towards mass action against those in government adding that with what is happening, what looks like a revolution is around the corner.
“I see a situation in which our conquerors will be taken out. When the people will say you, we don’t want you anymore.”
