Queen Elizabeth II died of “old age” at 3.10pm on September 8, her death certificate has confirmed.
The entry in the National Records of Scotland, published today, is signed by her daughter the Princess Royal, who was with her in her final 24 hours.
The late Queen’s death was registered in Aberdeenshire on September 16th 2022, and is now a matter of public record.
The certificate confirms that some of the Queen’s close family were still in the air en route to Balmoral when she died.
Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex took off from RAF Northolt at 2.39pm and landed in Aberdeen at 3.50pm.
At 4pm, Prince William drove the family to Balmoral, arriving at around 5pm.
Prince Charles and Princess Anne were at the Scottish home when she died.
Prince Harry, who made his own way to Scotland in the late afternoon, learned of her death as his plane landed in Aberdeen hours later.
Liz Truss, the Prime Minister, was told of the death at 4.30pm.
The document records the certified registered medical practitioner as Douglas James Allan Glass, a local GP.
