The newly sworn in Governor of Ekiti Biodun Oyebanji on Monday gave an order that the immediate Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani should report back to office.
A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Yinka Oyebode, which was made available to the NPO Reports explained that the decision to recall the former Commissioner under former Governor Kayode Fayemi was because of some sensitive assignments she was handling before the expiration of the term of the last Governor.
“The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has recalled the immediate past Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani.
“The recall, which is in view of the sensitive nature of some of the projects and initiatives currently being executed by the Ministry, is with immediate effect.”
Oyebanji was sworn in on Sunday after the end of the tenure of Fayemi.
The Governor had earlier at a prayer session said he was handing the state over to God’s hands.
The Governor said he felt the need to kick start his first day at work with a short prayer session, committing the entire assignment into God’s able hand.
Governor Oyebanji, after the 30 minutes service, walked from the Chapel to his office where he had his first meeting with members of the Ekiti State caucus of the National Assembly.
He also held meetings with the Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs) Monisade Afuye, principal officers of the State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye; as well as the Head of Service and some top government officials.
