A royal father recalls how Davido’s Mother was the angel that saved his own son more than two decades ago in what could have been an equally fatal incident in the Adelekes’ swimming pool
Prominent traditional ruler in Yorubaland, Oba Dokun Abolarin, has recalled how the mother of musician, David Adeleke (Davido) Mrs Veronica Adeleke rescued his own son 25 years ago from drowning in a swimming pool.
Oba Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke Ila, in Osun recalled that his son, Kashope Abolarin, now a medical doctor, was playmate of the children of the Adelekes in Lagos.
He narrated how his son had plunged inside the swimming pool but was rescued and pulled by Davido’s mother.
“So sad it was David’s mummy, Late Dr. Mrs Veronica Adeleke that rescued my own son inside the swimming pool, some twenty-five years ago.
“I am sad what Veronica did for my son years back, nobody, I mean nobody to play that same role for Veronica’s grandson, Ifeanyi!!!
Who are we to query God? May his soul rest in peace and may Veronica’s soul continue to rest in peace. Fantastic woman!” the monarch said in his tribute to Davido’s son
Speaking further with the NPO Reports, Oba Abolarin said on Tuesday that that son of his who was rescued from the swimming poll 25 years ago is today now a medical doctor.
“It pains me that Davido, whose own mother was the angel that God sent to rescue my son then could not have anyone on ground to rescue his son,”
Oba Abolarin told NPO Reports that his son, Kashope Abolarin who is now a medical doctor is now into politics and seeking a seat in the Osun State House of Assembly.
He said Kashope had jumped into the swimming pool and unable to swim well and in need of urgent help.
If that help had not come in 10 minutes or 15 minutes, there would not have been a Kashope Abolarin today.
“David’s mother just came at the right time from work and saw Kashope inside the swimming pool struggling. She jumped into the pool even with her dress. She only removed her shoes and brought Kashope out. That was what saved the day. That was a very good woman. I pray for her soul.”
Davido’s son died in his father’s swimming pool after which doctors tried effortless to revive him.
He had just marked his 3rd birthday in an anniversary that held in Lagos on October 20.
His death has attracted wide reactions from notable Nigerians.
