Lawmakers were enraged on Tuesday after the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, William Alo, became incoherent in the explanations of the expenditure of the Ministry.
Chairman, Senate Committee, Senator Uroghide had demanded some documents to support some of the claims made by the team from the ministry during the session.
The chairman of the committee had told the team, “Based on records made available to the committee from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, a total of N13.9 billion was disbursed to the Ministry from the Service Wide votes for special capital projects execution from 2017 to 2021.”
The lawmakers said it was a bad thing for the ministry not to appear before it despite many previous invitations.
He accused the ministry of spending the funds allocated to it recklessly adding that the senate would only grant the last opportunity for the ministry to defend itself on Thursday.
