The new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, is currently at Mile 12 to have an on-the-spot assessment of the situation around the area as a result of the early morning protests that broke out.
The state’s PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this in a post via his Twitter handle on Friday saying that other affected areas were equally visited.
He quoted CP Idowu to have vowed that the trouble makers will face the music while the law abiding citizens will be protected.
“CP Idowu Owohunwa at Mile 12 to have an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
“Other parts of Lagos State were equally visited.
‘Trouble makers will surely be dealt with while law abiding citizens will be protected.’ – CP Idowu Owohunwa.
NPOReports had earlier reported the protests in many areas across Lagos on Friday morning as a result of the naira scarcity and the inability by Nigerians to access the new notes.
The areas affected include; Lagos-Ikorodu Road to Agege, Iyana-Ipaja, Epe and the Igando areas of the state.
Similarly, commuters along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were also grounded following a protest that broke out in the Mowe area of Ogun State after many angry Nigerians took to the expressway to register their displeasure over the naira crisis.
