…Says INEC, Police Connived to Rig in Rivers
Former Minister of Aviation Rotimi Amaechi has said that the current Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Prof Mahmood Yakubu was nominated for re-appointment by the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Amaechi said this just as he accused the INEC and the Police of connivance to ensure elections are rigged in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State.
Amaechi said Governor Nyesom Wike has compromised both police and the INEC to rig elections in favour of the Governor and his cronies.
He accused INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu of working for the president elect, Bola Tinubu.
He said both Yakubu and Wike both worked together at TETFUND, adding that the person who nominated Yakubu for appointment is a member of the Tinubu camp.
”So, what were you expecting? Success? Here in Rivers State, Mahmood worked with Wike at TETFUND as Executive Secretary. So, what you are having in Rivers is that APC, SDP and others are contesting elections not against PDP but against INEC and the police .” Amaechi said
Amaechi, who later also spoke on a live interview on Arise TV, repeated his allegation saying that the INEC boss is a beneficiary of the favour from the Tinubu’s camp.
