The Police in Lagos have said that investigations have commenced into what it called “community clash” in the Abule Ado area of Lagos state on Sunday.
The village is under Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that riot broke out among people suspected to be Yoruba and those of Igbo extraction. It could not be ascertained the main cause of the clash.
However, there were cries for assistance as community residents said they were being attacked. Youths could be seen with dangerous weapons including guns, cutlasses and sticks either to defend themselves or to launch attacks.
“The police have since restored normalcy in Abule-Ado. Intra-community fight broke out in the area earlier this morning resulting in destruction to property. Owing to the timely arrival of the police, no life was lost and no property was razed as widely claimed.
“Two persons have been arrested and investigation has commenced into the matter. Meanwhile, police officers remain on ground to prevent further breakdown of law and order.” the command stated.
