The Sultan of Sokoto Abubakar Saad had confirmed the sighting of moon in Nigeria.
The confirmation effectively marks the end of Ramadan as Muslims file out tomorrow for prayers.
The National Council for Islamic Affairs via its verified handle said the moon has been sighted.
“The Sultan of Sokoto and Leader of the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Thursday April 20, 2023 equivalent to Ramadan 29, 1444 A.H. as end of Ramadan fasting for the year.
“By implication, tomorrow Friday April 21 equivalent to Shawwal 1 is Eid-ul-Fitri, he said.”
The council confirmed that the Sultan Abubakar, while making the declaration in his palace on Thursday, said the moon was sighted in parts of Nigeria and has been confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee.
NPO Reported earlier that the authorities in Saudi Arabia had confirmed the sighting of the moon today signifying the end of fasting.
