The duo of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his counterpart in Oyo, Seyi Makinde have urged Nigerians irrespective of political party to rally around the President-elect Bola Tinubu.
According to the duo, the time for politics is over in the country.
Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to clinch the seat in the hotly-contested February poll.
Speaking with journalists shortly after meeting with Tinubu in Defense House, Abuja, Governor Wike asked Nigerians to back the incoming administration which is expected to be assume office on May 29th, 2023.
“Elections have come and gone. The winner has emerged and therefore is it necessary for all Nigerians to give him the necessary support for the interest of Nigeria.
“I am confident that he has what it takes to turn Nigeria around,” governor Wike said
In his turn, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also re-echoed his Rivers counterpart’s comment.
“I came here to basically pay homage to the president-elect. Elections are over and it is time for governance.
“We will do our best to give him support for good governance to Nigerians,” Makinde said
It is believed that, the duo of Wike and Makinde who are part of the G5 governors under the platform of PDP did not support the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubarkar.
