Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has said that his decision to move against his former ally, Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary) is to send a strong signal that there can be no two governors in the state at the same time. Almost admitting that Auxiliary was becoming a law unto himself with his alleged reckless conducts, Makinde said his admonitions to the former Parks management committee chairman to eschew violence were ignored. The Governor, during a Thanksgiving Service at the St. Annes Cathedral Aremo, Ibadan, said he needed to stamp his authority and now allow some miscreants to derail his administration. He said: “Before the last election, it wasn’t as if there is no thugs but we called them and told them the new Oyo State we want. We don’t want them to fight themselves, we don’t want fight to break from our garages every time
“We told them, don’t fight anybody. if we are re-elected, we shall ensure we unite you so that everyone can get what belongs to him or her for people and the government to operate in the atmosphere of peace.
“But one of them said he can’t work with others. so I said two governments cannot operate in the State, there will only be one government.”
Auxiliary was the boss of the parks management system which oversaw the affairs of the parks and garages in the state until last week. The governor, had during his swearing in ceremony, announced a dissolution of the outfit. Some hoodlums believed to be loyalists of Auxiliary had stormed a private residence of the Governor in Ibadan. Security men had also raided the residence of Auxiliary where the claimed the recovered a huge catche of arms and charms. Auxiliary was accused of planning to unleash mayhem on the state capital because of his removal.
