One of the governorship aspirants in Osun, Chief Akin Ogunbiyi, has accused the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party of being in an alliance with Adeleke family ahead of Tuesday’s governorship primaries in the state.
Specifically, he said Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, is dancing to the tune dictated by some cabals in the party especially Mr. Deji Adeleke.
Ogunbiyi stated this on Monday at his campaign office in Ogo-Oluwa Osogbo.
He said that the primary to chose the flag bearer for the July 16th governorship poll is already being concluded and he sees no reason why he should be wasting his time and resources.
“I came to this decision though it’s a very difficult one considering the amount of investment, experience and hope that my personality would have given to the state.
“When you have an umpire who is so biased to extent of collaborating with some people to sabotage the process that’s meant to be free and fair.
“Senator Ayu has agreed to work with Senator Ademola Adeleke.
“I was actually told not to waste my money. So, I had no choice than to withdraw from the race.
“Irrespective of court verdict over the leadership of the party in the state, people coming from Abuja will actually execute what they are being paid for.”
The primary is slated to hold tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8th, 2022.
In a letter of his intention which was made available to the NPO Reports Monday afternoon, Ogunbiyi stated,
“I wish to formally inform you of my withdrawal from the Osun PDP Gubernatorial Primaries.
“This decision became imperative in view of the fact that the process leading to the primaries is already skewed towards a predetermined outcome despite the various presentations made to the NWC for a level playing grounds for all the aspirants. As a consequence, I will not be participating in the primaries scheduled for Tuesday, 8th March 2022.”
Ogunbiyi addressed the letter directly to the National Chairman of the party.
