There is tension in the Mushin area of Lagos on Thursday as two persons died allegedly as a result of gun shots wounds from operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
NPO Reports learnt that the operatives had stormed the Idi Oro area of Mushin, a densely populated area of the metropolis in pursuit of some drugs merchants and users. In attempt to escape, some of the suspects were said to have made for different directions while there were also gun shots from some people suspected to be part of the drugs syndicate in the area. In the process, two persons were said to have been hit but bullets while they died on the spot. Realising two people had died, the NDLEA officials were said to have made attempts to take their corpses along with them but were prevented by angry residents. As at the time of filing this report, Femi Babafemi, Head of Media and Advocacy of the agency, was yet to respond to an inquiry sent to him.
This is coming two weeks after a similar incident in Delta state where a two year old was killed from stray bullets from the operatives. The agency had said it was investigating the matter.
