Nigerians have been thrown into total darkness after the collapse of the national grid in the early hours of Thursday. Findings by the NPO Reports show that the grid suffered a collapse at about 12:30am on Thursday.
It was gathered that the grid in Osogbo the Osun state capital, went down in the early hours after loosing supplies from the power stations feeding it. As of 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, five generating plants were on the grid. Afam VI had 0.70MW, Dadinkowa was generating 0.00MW, Ibom Power had 32.90MW, Jebba had 240MW and Olorunsogo was on the grid with zero generation.

Already, power distribution companies have been informing their premium customers of the development. One of such messages obtained by the NPO Reports which was sent to residents of some estates showed that the company promised that power would be restored as soon as the problem is rectified. “Good morning,
“Kindly be informed that the current outage is due to a nationwide system collapse. Supply will be restored as soon as possible.
“Kindly bear with us.”
