Arrested former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has been transferred to the Abuja facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
NPO Reports reliably learnt Friday morning that against speculations that Obiano has been released and on his way to the United States where he was headed before his arrest in Lagos on Thursday, the former governor was indeed moved from the Lagos detention facility to Abuja Friday morning.
Investigations by the NPO Reports showed that EFCC was stunned by the speed with which Obiano had planned to leave the country less than three hours after he handed over to the new Governor, Prof Charles Soludo.
Obiano was picked up at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport after arriving from Anambra and was on his way to the United States.
He had hurriedly left the venue of the brief swearing in ceremony which was almost marred with an open fight between his wife, Ebelechukwu and former Miss Nigeria, Bianca Ojukwu at the venue of the swearing in ceremony.
As at the time of filing this report, EFCC had not made public Obiano’s major offences.
A source at the EFCC said interrogations of the former governor will commence today as Obiano may remain in the commission’s facility over the weekend.
