Former presidential aspirant Kingsley Moghalu, has berated security agencies for the arrest and detention of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa.
Moghalu said it amounts to impunity for anyone to be arrested and kept in detention for that long with no clear evidence of his offence.
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in a statement through his X handle on Monday, said such b development should have occurred in a country that claims to fight corruption.
“I was therefore disappointed and sad when Bawa was removed, arrested and detained for several months without charges or trial.
“To the extent he has now been released, we have no knowledge of why he was arrested in the first place, or if he was guilty or innocent of any allegation against him.

But it should not happen in a country that claims to respect the rule of law that a citizen can be held for so long without any real or clear charges. That’s impunity. Nigeria’s institutions have been destroyed, and what we see is impunity all over. Bad.”
Recall that Bawa was arrested in June this years, days after the swearing in of President Bola Tinubu.
He had been accused of abuse of office.
He was released last week by the Directorate of State Security.
