At least two persons were said to have died on Monday after a fire broke out at the Canadian High Commission, located in the Central Business District of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, told journalists that two people were fatally injured in the incident, while about three or four other victims were rushed to the hospitals for attentions.
He said, “Yes, yes, it’s true. We have two fatally injured and the others in the hospital, either three or four.” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while sympathizing with the Canadian government, diplomatic community, and all persons affected by a fire incident assured the Canadian authorities of the full support of the Nigerian government in the aid of diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission who were particularly affected by the incident.
President Tinubu prays for the repose of the departed souls and wishes all injured persons a rapid and full recovery.
