There are allegations that election results sheets have been filled in some areas of Kogi state as the governorship poll gets underway on Saturday.
Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dino Melaye, had earlier raised the alarm after what he called an attempt to manipulate the results of the election in the Ogori/Magongo area of the state on Saturday.
This was just as advocacy group, YIAGA Africa, which has deployed its observers for the election, also called the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission to the development.
YIAGA, in a message to INEC, said it received reports that already filled result sheets were being seen in some polling units in the state. YIAGA noted, “Dear
INEC, we received report of pre-filled results sheet discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/magongo in Kogi state before commencement of voting.
“Kindly investigate and address this issue promptly to safeguard the integrity of the process.”
The organisation also alleged that another case of pre-filled election results was recorded at the PU 020, Eika/Ohizenyi, Okehi LGA of Kogi state.
As at the time of filing this report, INEC was yet to respond over the matter.
