Governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke, has ignored the order an industrial court in Ibadan which restrained him carrying out the removal of the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adepele Ojo.
NPO Reported earlier that Ojo and the secretary of the Judicial Service Commission, Michael Obidiya, had dragged the governor to court asking the court to stop him. The court had granted the request in an ex-parte motion.
The court fixed December 12 to hear the motion on notice. However, the governor announced on Thursday he had approved the recommendation of the House of Assembly which approved the removal of Ojo.
In her place, the governor approved the appointment of Justice Olayinka David Afolabi as the new Acting Chief Judge of the state.
The appointment of Justice Afolabi followed the Governor’s directive that the erstwhile state Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo, steps aside following the resolutions of the State House of Assembly, after allegations of abuse of office, gross misconduct, gross corruption and lack of respect of the rule of law, levelled against her.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed disclosed that the Acting Chief Judge will be sworn-in tomorrow (Friday), by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi.
