Gbenga Ogunbote, the Head Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), on Sunday in Ibadan acknowledged his players’ inability to convert goal scoring chances.
Ogunbote spoke during the post-match news conference, after drawing goalless with Heartland FC of Owerri in a 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match day 11 fixture.
He noted that his team was prepared to take the maximum three points from the encounter, but could not make the best use of the goalscoring opportunities.
“We never took Heartland FC for granted for life. But now we will go and do the needful on the team to ensure that scoring chances were effectively converted.
“Our dream still remained finishing the league strong,” Ogunbote said.
Looking ahead of their next game, Ogunbote said the Oluyole Warriors would only be needing a level playing ground while playing away against Sunshine Stars in Akure.
Speaking also, Kennedy Boboye, the Chief Coach of Heartland FC, said the match result was a positive one his side would only grudgingly accept.
He said this was because his side came with the determination to win the match.
“A team should be able to win any game anywhere, either home or away.
“It is possible to win anywhere, as long as the team can play good football,” the coach said.
Boboye said this was going to be his team’s focus since the mandate given to him as Heartland FC’s coach was to steer the team away from relegation.
He added that Heartland FC’s next home match against Bendel Insurance FC of Benin was now a must-win game for them.
”This is because we must not have anything short of winning, since the only way to pay back the good gesture of Heartland’s fans is to give them good results,” the coach said.
