The festering political crisis in Rivers state is about taking about another dimension as 27 members of the House of Assembly in the state have dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
They were said to have defected to the All Progressive Congress. NPO Reports that the lawmakers are those said to be loyal to the former Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
The past few weeks have been of tension between Governor Sim Fubara and Wike who had accused his successor of seeking to destroy the political structure that brought him into office.
Recall that temper rose about five weeks ago when some hoodlums burnt a section of the House of Assembly complex over an alleged attempt to impeach the governor. Some leaders of thought in the state had appealed to Wike to allow Fubara concentrate on governance. The House of Assembly has 32 members in all.
