As outrage continues to trail the massacre of villagers in Plateau state, President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday ordered security agencies to immediately go after culprits and bring them to justice.
NPO Reports that death toll in the killings that took place at Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State had reached over 100.
A statement on behalf of the President on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media, he quoted the president as expressing regrets over the mass killing of innocent villagers.
“President Tinubu directs security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.
“The President also directs immediate mobilization of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as medical treatment for the wounded.
“While condoling with the government and the people of Plateau State, President Tinubu assures Nigerians that these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice,” the statement noted.
The president’s statement came hours after Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, berated the Federal Government over what he called lack of political will to tackle the menace of terrorism.
He said terrorists have been occupying schools in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the state for five years without being dislodged.
“We must stop this carnage,” the governor said matter-of-factly, adding that security agents “cannot continue with this reactionary strategy but be proactive”.
