The Nigerian Army has broken silence over alleged sexual Intimidation of a junior female soldier by some Senior Officers.
In the wake of a now viral video posted by a TikTok handler, @OgunleyeRuthSavage1, who claimed to be a female officer intimidated by some Senior Officers, the Nigerian Army has assured members of the public of investigating the allegations melted at the Senior Officers whose name were mentioned in the post.
This was made known in a statement issued on the Force’s official X handle ( formerly Twitter).
“We assure the general public that the Nigerian Army as an institution is committed to upholding the integrity and morals of its personnel and as such appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
“We urge the public to allow the investigative process to take its course and refrain from making hasty judgments. The NA remains dedicated to serving our nation with honor and integrity.” The statement read.
As seen in the viral video, the female soldier identified as Ogunleye Ruth, had taken to her TikTok handle to react to the recent arrest of a male colleague apprehended by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for plying one-way.
While condemning the governor’s action, she disclosed that the action of some of their Senior Colleagues are worse than that of the governor as she narrated her ordeal in the process.
“I know what Governor Sanwo-Olu did is very worng. But let’s be sincere with ourselves, most of our Senior Officers are very wicked. They are even worse than Governor Sanwo-Olu.” She said.
Ogunleye would further narrate how she has been sexually intimidated by some of her senior colleagues whom she identified as Colonel IB Abdulkareem, Colonel GS. Ogor, and Brigadier-General IB. Solebo.
She revealed how Colonel IB Abdulkareem had been a nightmare to her ever since she refused his sexual advances.
“Before 2022, I was posted to Cantonment Medical Centre, Ojo, where I met Colonel IB Abdulkareem. He requested sex from me and I refused. Ever since then, this man has been my nightmare in the army, threatening to dismiss me each time he sees me.
“He came to my room to inject me. He sent some boys to my house. He also stigmatized me that I have mental illness each time I try to expose him.
“He wrote to DOA three good times to board me out of the army. He freeze my account for one year- from February last year till date.
I cried to some Senior Officers. I wrote petition using section 179 of the Armed Force Act. I’ve seen so many officers to intervene but none of them is giving me listening ear.
“There’s a day he locked me, injected me, and almost raped me. When they caught him, he took me to a psychiatric hospital and locked me up there for one good month without any medication. He denied me Access to military courses.
“Meanwhile, they know very well that my progression in the army is determined by my course attendance. Now they’ve given me admission in medical school, he refused to release me.
“There was a time I called my Dad. He was telling my Dad to tell me to obey the last order. What’s the last order? For him to sleep with me. He denied me everything. I can’t even go on pass to see my parents. No pass, no leave for me.
“Please if anything should happen to me, hold Colonel IB Abdulkareem responsible. Colonel GS Ogor, and Brigadier-General IB Solebo. Hold these people responsible- especially Colonel IB Abdulkareem. They are my nightmare in the army.
They’ve done so many things to tarnish my image. I don’t know what I did to them. Till date I haven’t collected salary. I can’t endure this anymore.” She narrated.
