There are indications that some of the women who organised the protests in Minna, the Niger state capital on Tuesday have been arrested.
The women carried a placard with the inscription “No food, we are dying of hunger”, demanded a better condition of living and reduction in cost of living for the citizenry.
They accused political office-holders of insensitivity to their plight as they lamented inability to feed even once in a day.
Convener of the Revolution Now movement Omoyele Sowore, while condemning the alleged arrest, said. “I have just received information that the woman who initiated the food price protest in Niger State has been arrested by the @@PoliceNG for organizing this heroic act, she and other women are to be arraigned by the Police. The police must release them immediately. These women are going to be more of these uprising coming the way of Nigeria.”
