He said: “I have titled this message, Forward with Courage. Fellow Nigerians, I stand before you today to declare my intention to contest. I stand here to submit my application to serve as the next President of our nation.”
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, said his 23 years of experience in governance stands him in good stead to seek the highest office in the land.
His aide, David Iyofor had earlier indicated that his boss was up for declaration via a tweet.
At a thanksgiving organized by the state chapter of the All Progressive at the Adokiye Amaeimaka Stadium on Saturday, Amaechi told party faithful he was ready to join the race.
Amaechi’s presidential ambition had been a subject of discussion for months.
Few months ago, he was honoured in Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari with traditional title.
In his address, he said, “I have titled this message, Forward with Courage. Fellow Nigerians, I stand before you today to declare my intention to contest. I stand here to submit my application to serve as the next President of our nation.”
