The remains of late Nigeria’s legendary musician, Onyeka Onwenu, has been laid to rest today in Lagos.
The celebrated music icon died on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing at an event honouring the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Dr Stella Okoli.
She was laid to rest today in a private burial at a vault in Ikoyi after a funeral service was held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Present at her burial were dignitaries which include Abia state governor , Alex Otti, and Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who was also present at the birthday party where the 72-year-old singer had collapsed.
During her lifetime, Onwenu, popularly known as ‘Elegant Stallion’ was not only a musician, but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
