Over one year after his death, the remains of Nigerian flag designer, Taiwo Akinkunmi, has been buried on Friday.
Akinkunmi, who died at the age of 87 on the 30th August, 2023 after brief illness, was laid to rest in Ibadan.
Following his death, the Federal Government had promised to organize befitting burial in honour of the Nigerian flag designer popularly known as Mr. Flag.
However, FG tend to have forgotten its promise, leaving the family to finally lay Akinkunmi’s remains to rest after a year of waiting.
Recall that BBC had, in a recent report, brought Akinkunmi’s burial to the limelight.
His son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, told the BBC Focus on Africa podcast that the family decided to bury his father after waiting a year for a promised state funeral from the federal government, which never materialised.
