Some appearances in media organizations are causing concerns in the camp of the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
NPO Reports learnt that some persons who were invited to television and radio stations shortly after his declaration for the 2023 presidential race since Monday have given reasons to worry about especially concerning their comments
In what the Special Adviser, Political Matters to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, called “opinions that run contrary to his views and persona,” it was gathered that some comments by some persons in the media have created misgivings that might create mistrust between the President, Muhammadu Buhari and the vice president.
NPO Reports learnt this was why in the statement signed by Ojudu, it was stressed in working with President Buhari, Osinbajo “has been a loyal, dependable and hardworking partner in delivering the progressive promise of people centered good governance, devoid of guile, in the past seven years.”
Ojudu called the noticed media appearances “certain off-key representation of the Vice President.”
He advised media houses to be sure whether the camp of the Vice president are accredited to speak on behalf of him or not.
The statement noted, “The Vice President is focused on his job, while seeking the ticket of our great party. He has been a loyal, dependable and hardworking partner in delivering the progressive promise of people centered good governance, devoid of guile, in the past seven years.
“We enjoin media houses and journalists to reach out to our office to ascertain the accreditation status of representatives of varying support groups, that have since sprung up across the country, in fervent support of the Vice President.”
Ojudu disclosed that some persons have been going to media houses but were wrongly identified and tagged as aides of Osinbajo.
He said, “While we appreciate the spontaneous support for the Vice President and the willingness of these support to express themselves in the media, there has been various representatives that have gone to the media as aides of the VP or his representatives, who were wrongly tagged so. We hope the media will be circumspect in tagging these voices, and carefully vet these claims in the future.”
He said the camp of the vice president is committed to what he called “civil and reasoned discourse and debates” adding that in the next few weeks, they must avoid any kind of negativity that is not in line with the vision and temperament of the Vice President.
“We wish Nigerians all the best and appreciate the fervent support thus far for His Excellency, the Vice President,” the statement concluded.
