As Chairman of PDP Governors Witness Event

Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday, said the desperate situation that his government found itself called for desperate measures he has adopted.
Speaking at the swearing in of the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas in the state, Fubara explained reason behind his insistence on conducting the election.
NPO Reports that elections were held on Saturday across the state with the All People’s Party winning 22 out of the 23.
Fubara who is a member of the People’s Democratic Party said to the party’s Governors forum chairman, Bala Mohammed, that he still remains a PDP member as he explained his reason for defying the Federal High Court order.
“I am so glad that the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum is here with us to witness the ceremony. I want to assure you that I still remain a member of the PDP.
“But the truth remains that desperate situation requires desperate measures.
“We were confronted with a situation where the local government of this state was leading to doom. But because of the genuine love that we have for the state, we must salvage the local government council and we did with the Rivers people was to salvage it.” Fubara said.
While labelling PDP and himself as the greatest loser of the election, Fubara affirmed his loyalty to the despite parading 22 APP local government chairmen.
He assured PDP’s governors forum chairman, Bala Mohammed, of his commitment to the party.
Fubara, however pleaded with the APP chairmen to support the PDP’s administration in the state.
“The greatest loser of this process is me and my party. But we believe you people are not going to drive us out of Rivers state.
“We are the ones helping you to drive your process. So help us. Let us also survive in the state.
“I want to thank my senior, the chairman of the PDP’s governorship Forum that is here to witness the ceremony with us and to assure him that I am still with him.
“I know, maybe his reason of coming is the fear that I’m leaving the party. No I’m still with my party.” Fubara said.
