Socio-Economic Rights & Accountability Project (SERAP) has called for the withdrawal of suit filed by Kogi and 15 other states seeking the dissolution of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
SERAP made this call in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday.
The group disclosed that the states had demanded for the declaration of EFCC as illegal and also call for the withdrawal of its constitutional power.
This, according to SERAP, contradicts the Nigerian Constitution.
The post read; “Kogi and 15 other states must immediately withdraw their suit seeking to declare EFCC illegal and curb its powers, as it is clearly contrary to section 15(5) of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 [as amended] and would shield state governors from accountability.
“Other states joining the suit are: Ondo, Edo, Oyo, Ogun, Nassarawa, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa, Enugu, Benue, Anambra, Plateau, Cross-River and Niger.”
