At least four mountaineers have fallen to their death in separate accidents across the Italian Alps on Sunday, the country’s mountain rescue service says.
Their fatal falls reportedly occurred in the Veneto, Trentino and Piedmont regions in northern Italy.
The deceased were identified as three men and a woman.
In swift response, rescue teams were deployed helicopters and multiple teams in the affected areas.
On Rocciamelone in the Piedmont region, a man fell more than 400 metres to his death.
His body was recovered after a complicated operation by the rescue teams.
In the Trentino region, a 26-year-old man died when he lost his balance and fell about 30 metres into a ravine, landing in a riverbed.
Similar incident occurred in Veneto after another man fell into a crevice
Meanwhile, the fourth incident would involve a woman who fell while abseiling.
