The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project Group (SERAP) has disclosed to an Abuja High Court how officials of the Department of States Service (DSS) used fake names and unmarked vehicle to invade its premises.
SERAP made the disclosure at the court hearing held today over the defamation lawsuit filed by the alleged officials.
As contained in a statement issued on its official X handle the humanitarian group also called for the dismissal of the defamation which it labelled as being frivolous and vexatious.
However, SERAP announced the adjournment of the case till 29th November.
“We’ve told an Abuja high court today to dismiss the bogus defamation suit by Nigeria’s secret police DSS for being frivolous and vexatious, with substantial costs.
“The DSS officials who invaded our Abuja office used fake names and came with two unmarked vehicles.
“The case has been adjourned to 29th of November 2024 for further hearing.” The statement read.
Recall, that SERAP had, in September, raised alarm over alleged invasion of its Abuja office by the DSS officials who demanded to see the group’s Directors.
This came under the heals of SERAP letter to President Bola Tinubu, calling for the probe of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over alleged corrupt practices.
