The first son of the former Governor of Edo State Cyril Adams Oshiomhole has been nominated as a commissioner in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Fred Itua.
His nomination among others was announced on Tuesday by the new Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Barely few hours after his assumption to office, Okpebholo released his first appointment list with Cyrilnominated as Health Commissioner.
Also included in the appointment list is former Federal lawmaker, Samson Osagie, who was nominated as the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
According to report, Osagie is a private legal practitioner having been called to the Nigerian Bar on March 22, 1995.
Born in November 11, 1967, Osagie served as two-term member of the Edo State House of Assembly and also the House of Representatives where he rose to the position of the Minority Whip.
He is also the current vice president of the African Bar Association (West African Region).
On his part, Cyril Adams Oshiomole is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).
He also obtained a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH, majoring in Environmental Health, Toxicology, and Disaster Management) from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, LA.
However , their names alongside other appointees will still be forwarded to Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation.
Meanwhile, Okpebholo also appointed Barrister Musa Ikhilor as the Secretary to the State Government (SGG).
Ikhilor has over 11 years of experience in Legislative Drafting, Parliamentary Administration, Lawmaking procedure and processes, Constitutional drafting and amendment, and general Legislative Governance issues working in various capacities at the National Assembly.
He was appointed in 2019 as a Consultant to the Federal House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where he has been closely analysing and reviewing matters on Gender Equity, Human Rights, and strengthening Institutions of Government and creating efficient and transparent processes and systems to deliver Good Governance.
If approved by the Edo State Assembly, Ikhilor and other appointees will form Okphebolo’s cabinet as the governor set to kick-off his administration after emerging winner of the September governorship election.
NPO reported that the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) governor presented a 5-point agenda while delivering his inaugural address after being sworn-in.
He pledged to prioritize education and also bring an end to kidnapping in the state.
