There are widespread allegations of vote-buying in the ongoing governorship election in Ondo state with many participants claiming they have seen many cases in parts of the state.
Though the exercise has been largely seen to be peaceful, several videos and pictures of alleged vote buying are surfacing on social media, placing the credibility of the election at risk.
Several posts have emerged on X revealing political party agents openly engaging in vote buying.
In one of the posts, an X user, John Adebayo, disclosed how he was wooed to sell his vote for N10,000 which he refuted.
“My conscience go judge me if I vote APC #ONDODECIDES Dey wan collect my vote with 10k” Adebayo wrote.
Other videos also surfaced with captions confirming the ongoing buying of votes for N10,000.
NPO earlier Reported a post by Action Alliance Congress (AAC) Oyo state chairman, Kayode Babayomi, confirming the spate of vote buying.
In a post on his X handle, he revealed how caught a group of suspected vote buyers alleged to be APC members at a polling unit in Okitipupa Local Government Area while claiming that
“Ward 3 ,Unit 11 and 12 ,Ilutuntun, Okitipupa LG . I caught these APC guys sharing money to voters ,10k per vote, a million per unit. We have a long way to gooooooo.. police walked into the nearest cassava farm to hide.” He wrote.
