Former Senator representing Kaduna Central District has raised concerns over the possibilities of embattled DCP Abba Kyari being harmed in the Kuje Prison to which he was asked to be remanded.
A Federal High Court had earlier ordered that Kyari and his co-accused be remanded in Kuje prisons after the court denied them bail.
The Judge had said that the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has given ample evidence why Kyari must not be granted bail.
Sani, while raising the concern over Kyari’s safety in prison the former Kaduna Central Senator pointed out that the prison wardens are usually concerned about ensuring the safety of a police officer when sent to prison.
Sani said, “When a policeman is ordered to be remanded in prison, the first concern of the prison wardens is how to keep him safe from the inmates he once arrested and led to their incarceration; in that case, he is kept in a separate cell to save him from being beaten or anyway harmed.”
NPO had earlier reported the judgment of Justice Emeka Nwike had denying Kyari and six others bail thereby sent them to Kuje Prison.
