Nigerian TikToker, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, was on Thursday night punched in the face by a police officer in Lekki area of Lagos state.
As captured in a now viral video recorded by Peller, the officer attached to the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), had at a checkpoint approached the TikToker, ordering him to come down for searching.
The officer would suddenly become hostile towards social media personality as he challenged him for recording
A brief scuffle broke out between the duo as the officer attempted to seize the phone of the TikToker who accused him of bullying.
Peller claimed to have been punched and bloodied by the officer as he examined his face in the video before stepping out of the car.
Recounting his ordeal later in a post on his Instagram handle, the TikToker disclosed that the officer and his colleagues had stopped him on his way Ikorodu.
His driver was ordered to open the booth of the car while the officer who launched the assault approached the TikToker.
Peller disclosed the other officers would later approach him and explained that the officer seems not know him.
“I was coming back from Ikorodu and this happened in Lekki. The policemen said we should open the boot, and we open. Next thing everybody come down for searching. I just carry phone in case anything happen. Next thing, he punched me for face.
“The remaining policemen come dey talk say he no no say nah me. So nah so una dey do for random people.” He wrote.
