The Osun State chapter of the Accord has called on the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Security Services (DSS) to probe three chieftains of the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter, Timothy Owoeye, Adeleke Adebayo (BANIK), and Remi Omowaiye, over alleged secret with suspected notorious political thug, Kazeem Oyewale.
Accord, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Chairman in the state, Pastor Victor Akande, raised alarm over the APC chieftain’s meeting with Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, alleging plot to unleash violence on the Accord party’s members and leaders ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Akande expressed concern over the open threats of violence against its members following a visit to the residence of Aṣiri Eniba by the APC chieftains.
He warned that failure to act decisively will create an atmosphere of avoidable tension ahead of the August 15 poll and pose a broader security risk to innocent people of the state even after the election.
“For some time now, we have held the position that the APC does not appear committed to a free and fair poll on August 15, and this position was further reinforced after a picture of Messrs Timothy Owoeye, Adeleke Adebayo and Remi Owowaiye with Kazeem Oyewale (aka Aṣiri Eniba) surfaced online,” The Osun Accord Chairman said.
Akande further raised concern over Asiri Eniba’s open threat to Accord memebrs and leaders, recounting his recent invasion of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) office where he allegedly disrupted voters’ registration process.
“Almost everyone knows the history of Kazeem Oyewale (aka Aṣiri Eniba), and his posture alongside the APC chiefs raises serious questions, especially given that since then, he has been openly issuing threats against our members and leaders.
“Recently, he invaded an INEC office in Odo-Otin Local Government where potential voters were completing their registration, disrupted the process with his gang, and violenttly threatened a registrant for supporting Accord.
“This remark is unacceptable and must be addressed. We are in a democracy, and the Constitution guarantees freedom of association, which no individual has the right to undermine.
“We understand that such reckless behaviour is being encouraged by his association with certain APC chieftains, and it is for this reason that we are calling on the Nigerian Police and the DSS to investigate the purpose of the recent meeting.” He said.
The Accord Chaiman emphasised that its call is a civic responsibility as a law-abiding political organisation committed to a peaceful and secure environment, urging security agencies to act promptly and professionally.
He stressed that no individual should be allowed to threaten the conduct of a peaceful election in Osun State.
“In 2022, there were reports that Aṣiri Eniba and his gang confronted security agents deployed for the election, and it took firm intervention before normalcy was restored, which contributed to the peaceful outcome of the poll,” he added.
“While we have no personal issues with Kazeem Oyewale or his political preferences, our concern remains his well-known violent tendencies, which some elements within the APC appear willing to exploit not only to intimidate voters and our members, but cause mayhem in the state.
“Allowing such actions will undermine the essence of democracy, and we therefore urge security agencies to act on this matter without delay.” Akande added.
