Nigerian human rights activist, Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, has called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to raid a hotspot of illicit drug dealers located near the Edo State House Assembly Complex.
Mama Pee had in a video shared on Instagram on Friday drove to the said spot where a group of boys could be seen loitering around the premises.
Noticing the activist’s presence, the boys avoided her camera as she accused them of contributing the rising number of young people at psychiatric hospital due to their sales of illicit drugs.
“Are you aware of what is going on in Edo State? Are you aware that half of Edo don mad?
“Please help me tell NDLEA. I wan go show am one of the spots for the heart of Benin where dem dey sell drugs in case dem no know.” She said in the video.
The said spot is located at Ihama Government Residential Area (GRA) few metres away from the Edo State House of Assembly Quarters in Benin, the state’s capital.
Mama Pee called on the NDLEA’s Chairman, Brig.Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) to raid the area as she challenged the suspected drug dealers.
She also called out the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as she claimed that half of the people in the state are mentally derailed due to drug influence.
“Okpebholo look at the people you should be raiding and pack away.
“I don’t know why people will not come out and chase you people away. These are the people selling drugs.
“I just dey come from the psychiatric hospital. Half of the people in Edo are mad.” The activist said.
Meanwhile, NPO Reports reached out to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, over the NDLEA awareness of the said spot.
Confirming the development to our correspondent, Babafemi disclosed that the NDLEA Edo Command has been directed to commence investigation over the activist’s claim.
