The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has remained silent over what would happen to the general election this year.
Nigeria is slated to have a general election where a new President, new executives and lawmakers are either to be elected while some will be returning.
With barely two months to the election, many Nigerians who had taken his previous predictions very serious had anticipated that he would use the occasion of the New Year sermon to give definitive predictions.
Speaking during a sermon in April, the General Overseer had said God was yet to speak to him about the election.
“As I am standing before you, I still don’t know whether there will be an election next year,” he said.
“Don’t say that Pastor Adeboye said there will be no election next year. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying I don’t know yet. I don’t know because my father hasn’t talked to me about it at all.
“The last time we had an election, he spoke to me about it by June the previous year. It’s not late. This is April but he hasn’t told me yet.”
Adeboye’s statement then had come at a time that some prominent Nigerians were canvasing for an interim government after the expiration of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Among them is prominent lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Afe Babalola.
Adeboye however spoke on other issues saying the world will relatively be at peace in the new year while he added that the weather is expected to be more clement than before.
He said ,” The weather will be more erratic and will now be very nice in some places but we are trusting God it will be nice wherever we are.
“God also says the world this year will be relatively more peaceful.”
