Adedoyin, His Staff Have Case to Answer Over Death of OAU Student
A High Court in Osun on Wednesday ruled that the owner of Hilton Hotels Ile Ife, Osun State, Mr. Ramon Adedoyin and his staff members have case to answer over the death of a student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Timothy Adegoke who lodged in the hotel last year.
Justice Adepele Ojo, while ruling on a no-case submission by Adedoyin’s lawyers, said enough evidence has been placed before the court to ask the accused to open their defence.
Ruling on the matter on Wednesday, Justice Ojo said it has been properly established that the late Timothy Adegoke arrived and lodged in the hotel which is owned by Adedoyin.
She said it was evident that after settling down in the hotel, he had conversations with his wife while documents confirmed he was admitted as a guest in the hotel.
While asking the defence team to commence its defence, the court was told that it the defence team would need time to commence its defence.
Justice Ojo therefore adjourned the matter to April 25 this year.
The accused persons were subsequently returned to the Ilesa Custodial centre .
The late Adegoke was allegedly killed and his remains buried in a shallow grave in a forest not far from the hotel.
A son of the owner, Raheem Adedoyin, who has since been on the run, is said to have supervised the burial of the late OAU student.
The deceased was a Masters of Business Administration student and he was in Ife for his examinations when he was allegedly killed.
